Rogue

Across the face of all the nations, many make their fortune at the expense of others. While some do this honorably (or semi-honorably) such as merchants, and craftsmen, others feel no obligation to return services rendered for monetary gain.

While most rogues thrive gathering valuables or picking purses and pockets, there are others of some considerable reputation in the field of making and disarming traps or gathering information. Rogues tend to be loners; their less-than-sterling reputation with “harder-working” professions tends to mark them as outcasts and often cloaks them with icy stares and less-than-gentle words.

Roguish Archetypes

Rogues in Narenfel may choose any of the Roguish Archetypes listed in the Players Handbook or Xanthar’s Guide, except for the Arcane Trickster. Much of the arsenal of the Arcane Trickster relies on Shadari magic (school of Illusion), and as such, it is considered illegal in all countries.

While illegal activity is certainly not a deterent to a Rogue, those who willingly aid or abet Shadari-based activities are equally liable under the law of every nation of Narenfel, and as such, may be subject to the same penalties (usually incarceration or death). They would also be target of magistrates and reeves (particularly Silent Brothers).

For this reason, the Arcane Trickster is more of a Shadari than a subclass of Rogue.

NOTABLE GUILDS

The Trollbones

The premier independent guild of rogues and assassins that does business with all the great Houses of Callen Moor, as well as any other nobility or well-coined clients, purportedly including some from Bramm.

The Guild of Travels

A multi-national guild that provides  transportation and protection to travelers and the well-paying (and in particular, undead clients within Bramm). While no longer a thieve’s guild per se, The Guild of Travels started as a thieve’s guild which became so successful over time that it ultimately became a legitimate multinational organization. That said, it still plays to its roots, employing a number of rogue and rogue-associated folk. The guild is commonly referred to as “The Guild of Travails” since it has a reputation for  caring little for the bodily harm for those who get in the way of the transport of paying clients.
